Moral or Immoral Government · 20 May 2008

When I next vote, I want to vote for a party that has clear moral codes with the strength to abide by them.

I am thinking of what the Australian Prime Minster has recently been quoted as saying.

I was sent an email that said:

I wish English Politicians had the same backbone.

Read on:

Great Britain Needs A Leader Like This!

Prime Minister John Howard –

Australia Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation’s mosques. Quote: ‘IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.’
‘This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom’
‘We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!’
‘Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.’
‘We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.’
‘This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,
‘THE RIGHT TO LEAVE’.’
‘If you aren’t happy here then LEAVE. We didn’t force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.’
Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, BRITISH citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.’

I write this today because of the Embryo Vote; it has been agreed to use embryos ‘mixed’ with animal parts to produce something to use in trials for stem cell research even though nothing has been shown that this will produce the hoped for outcome.

I actually feel physically sick at the thought of dead babies being used in this way. I know using the term baby is not strictly correct as some would argue that an embryo is not a baby hence the term embryo. An Embryo is a baby in the womb as far as I am concerned. But I concede that is up for debate.

I do agree with legalised abortions but feel that 15 to 20 weeks is as old as the unborn baby should be before it is terminated. I agree with legalised abortions because illegal abortions are abhorant. However I do think the mother wanting the abortion should have the written approval of her close friends and/or close family and GP before going ahead. I think the reasons for this are obvious. I also think that someone who continually has abortions should have a hysterectomy on the advice of GP, family and/or friends. This is my personal opinion and naturally there would be deviations depending on the circumstances.

I cannot believe that the Australian prime-minister would even have a vote such as the Embryo Vote in his parliament and would not agree with it. I can’t imagine that France, Spain and Italy would agree with this vote either. So why are the UK?

It is the country that should have voted and not the individual politicians.

I wonder what Ireland thinks of it?

Next: This is why we should say NO to Embryo research and to REDUCING the Abortion age from 24 weeks to 12 or 15 weeks.

  1. You think a woman’s FRIENDS should have to give her permission to have an abortion? What else should one’s friends give one permission to do?

    Marie    Jun 20, 12:54 AM    #

  2. No Marie, I don’t think anyone should TELL anyone what to do. We are each individuals and we should be allowed to freely make our own decisions about our own individual lives. However we live in this world with other people and our decisions affect others. We have true friends for a reason and we should listen to their advice and then make our own ‘informed’ decision. With regard to abortion, the individual making that vital decision should I personally feel have the advice of their friends and family and GP or people they trust before they make such an important decision. Some women are far too young to make that decision on their own and perhaps a letter from a friend confirming all their own reasons for the abortion would be supportive to the female in question. Women who have abortions are troubled by their decision for years after the event. Legalising abortion has made it simple in terms of the physical aspect of abortion but not much is in place to deal with the emotional aspect of the abortion. For this reason in SOME cases to support the mother, it may be a good idea to have close friends of her choosing involved. Perhaps I should have explained that more clearly instead of saying: ‘I think the reasons for this are obvious’. I hope this helps you. Thank you for asking this question and giving me the opportunity to respond. Warm regards, Marianne
